ABOUT THE FOUNDATION



The Assist by Knight Foundation was born in the hearts of NBA Point Guard, Brevin Knight and his wife, Deena. They both understand what it means to rise above life’s challenges and difficult circumstances in order to live out your dreams. They also know that they would not have achieved their success without the support of those who believed in their respective talents and encouraged them to aim high. The Knights established the foundation in 2002 with the vision of assisting as many people in life, as Brevin does baskets, on the court.

Our Mission

The mission of The Assist by Knight Foundation (ASSIST) is to inspire the youth of today to strive for a brighter tomorrow through the development of scholarships; educational, athletic, and artistic programs; and through collaborative and financial partnerships with charities and community organizations that focus on life-enriching activities for disadvantaged children.

Our Focus

ASSIST has focused most of its initiatives on disadvantaged youth because so many of these children face seemingly insurmountable obstacles including loneliness, homelessness, hopelessness, and desertedness. The Knights sincerely believe that motivation and encouragement can plant seeds of hope in the minds of these children that will help them to make good choices that will lead to brighter futures. Through mentoring and wish granting the foundation introduces light and hope where there was once darkness and despair.

Of course, there are physical needs too. Each year the foundation distributes toys, clothing, shoes, toiletries, books, and school supplies in an attempt to accommodate some of the basic needs of this oft-forgotten group. The foundation recognizes the embarrassment and unfairness suffered by these children sometimes as a result of just lacking those things which might otherwise be taken for granted. ASSIST attempts to do its part in leveling the playing field for these children.
